Job Purpose
The database administrator is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a web-hosted database. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for planning, development and troubleshooting account specific issues. The database administrator is responsible for ensuring that data remains consistent across the database and is clearly defined. The individual will also be required to create reports as requested and set up and host webinars.
Essential Job Functions:
- Reviews project requests describing database user needs.
- Determines if project requires creating series of new programs or modifying existing programs that access data stored in databases.
- Manipulates data via spreadsheets for reporting and archival purposes.
- Attends specification meeting with project team workers to determine scope and limitations of project.
- Reviews procedures in database management system for making changes to database such as defining, creating, revising, and controlling database.
- Creates description to enable appropriate staff to understand how programs should access data.
- Writes description of how user accesses data, referred to as logical database.
- Writes physical database description such as location, space requirements, and access method, to protect company data resources against unauthorized access and accidental destruction.
- Manage, manipulate, and create websites developed to host databases.
Education or Experience Required
- B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Systems Science, Telecommunications, or a related field of study
- Experience with QuickBase is an EXTREME PLUS
- Experience with Web Development is an EXTREME PLUS
- Excellent command of Microsoft Excel
- Database Administrator experience an EXTREME PLUS
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Must have the ability to work well independently
